The 2025 edition of our region’s flagship CSR event, the YKK ASAO Kids Football Clinic (AKFC), was successfully held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from August 27–29. This marked the third time the event has taken place in Colombo. This year, we continued our collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation (RMF), the CSR arm of Real Madrid FC, with whom we have maintained a longstanding partnership.
The event aims to support children’s growth through sport and to put the YKK Philosophy into action.
The three-day program began with a press conference featuring distinguished panel: Mr. Kazuto Daimon, President of YHA; Mr. Kei Tanaka, Managing Director of YKK Lanka; Ms. Raushan Azim, General Manager of YKK Lanka; and Mr. Andres Muntaner Borrajo, RMF Director for Camps and Clinics. Representatives from the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) also attended in support of the event.
A total of 265 children participated in the kids clinic, including underprivileged children and 61 children of YKK Lanka employees. A coaches clinic was also conducted to train local coaches, with participation from 11 YKK Lanka employees and 30 coaches from FFSL and other football schools. Training was led by three RMF coaches Mr. Pablo Gómez Revenga, Mr. Carlos Gustavo Albert García, and Mr. Ignacio Abascal Artola, who shared their world-class methodologies with the local coaches and engaged the children in a fun and inspiring way.
To date, over 7,800 children and 800 local coaches across ASAO countries have benefited from this once-in-a-lifetime training with world-class professionals. All football and training equipment used in the clinics was donated to participating orphanages and non-profit organizations, demonstrating YKK’s ongoing commitment to community development.
Overall, the joy and enthusiasm of the children and local coaches were evident, and their smiles truly fueled the spirit of our event.
