As part of YKK’s philosophy – “Cycle of Goodness®”, we aim to give back to the community in which YKK Asia Group companies operates. As part of our efforts to contribute to the society-at-large in a meaningful way, the mission to promote the healthy growth of kids through sport related activities was adopted in 2007. Since then, the YKK Asia Group Kids Football Clinic (AKFC) has become YKK Asia Group’s flagship regional CSR event. It has been held across 13 countries, providing soccer training close to 7000 kids.
We believe sports have no borders or limits; it is a common language that people around the world speaks. Sports bind people together. Association Football, also known as football or soccer, is the biggest global sport in the world (according to an online statistics). Because of how soccer is widely accepted in multiple countries, it is the sport we have chosen to fulfill our mission to these underprivileged kids.
We want to offer a special opportunity to both the kids and the local coaches in their respective countries. In order to provide a world-class soccer training experience to the underprivileged kids and the local coaches, we only choose to work with the best football clubs in the world. Over the past years, we have partnered with several world renowned football clubs including AS Roma FC, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid Foundation, and have successfully conducted 25 soccer clinics.
AKFC is not simply a one-time soccer training experience for the kids. We hope that, in imparting these skills to the local coaches, these coaches can utilise these world-class training methodologies to educate more kids in the future. To further encourage continuity for the development of the local soccer scene, YKK have donated all footballs, jersey bibs and training equipment from the event to the participating communities. YKK’s aspiration for the program is that these efforts will optimistically translate in some small way into a force of positivity in the lives of the participating kids in this unique opportunity that YKK has created.
