On November 26th, YKK Bangladesh installed solar panels at New Hope Education Centre, located in Kashimpur, Dhaka. This initiative will benefit the school by lowering energy costs, providing budget stability, and reducing environmental impact through lower carbon emissions.
By using solar power, students can enjoy powered facilities during school hours—even during load shedding (a planned power outage to balance electricity demand and supply). This will help increase students’ attendance in educational activities. Additionally, more opportunities will be created for students to learn about renewable energy.
For the country, as the school authority uses solar panels, it will reduce the need for additional electricity production and ease pressure on the main power grid. Solar energy also helps lower the community’s collective carbon footprint and reliance on fossil fuels.
On November 30th, Mr. Shinobu Nakayama, Administration Coordinator, along with other managers from YKK Bangladesh, attended the opening ceremony to officially hand over the solar installation to the school principal.
