For our first #Zipper101, let us start with a simple introduction of the types of zippers YKK has to offer.
YKK manufactures and markets a wide range of zipper, with a primary focus on the 3 main categories, Coil, Metal and VISLON®.
Coil Zippers
A coil zipper is made of spiral plastic elements, such as polyester and nylon.
Soft and versatile, this zipper can be used in anything from apparel garments to luggage or sporting goods to automobiles.
Metal Zippers
Metal zippers are the most classic and have the longest history.
These zippers suit various applications such as jackets, luggage, jeans and more. YKK offers various metals such as: golden brass, nickel, aluminum, and manganese.
VISLON® zippers
The VISLON® zipper is made of injected plastic elements.
It is lighter than metal zippers of the same size and is thus widely used for sportswear and more.
