One of the major and holiest days on the Islamic lunar calendar, Idul Adha or “Festival of Sacrifice” is celebrated on the 10th day of the twelfth and final month on the Islamic calendar. It rejoices Ibrahim’s obedience to Allah’s command where Allah ordered Ibrahim to sacrifice his dearest possession, his son Ishmael. According to Islamic tradition, Ibrahim obeyed the command and attempted to cut Ishmael’s throat only to find out that Allah placed a sheep in his place.
It is on this day where goats and cows are slaughtered to commemorate the significant event. The meat of the animal, known as the Qurban is divided among family, friends and the poor. During Idul Adha, YKK Indonesia donated animals to serve as a sacrifice for the local community who lives in the vicinity of the factory.
