YKK Thailand Offers Donation on Buddhist Lent Day
Wan Khao Pansa marks the first day of ‘Buddhist Lent’ which spans across 3 months. It is celebrated by 95 percent of the population in Thailand with many of them wanting to make merit on this day.
A tradition on Wan Khao Pansa includes offering candles to monks. The reasons behind this is that monks once used candles to study after dark. More importantly, the locals believe that offering a candle would result in their own future to be a bright one of strength and longevity.
On 26 January 2018, a candle festival was held at Sriian Pradit temple. YKK (Thailand) donated to the temple for their LED lighting. A donation box was also set up in the factory for the temple to gather donations which will be given to them during this occasion.
